How to Style a Fall Porch That Looks Designed

Designer tips for a fall porch with pumpkins, mums and layered texture.

• Start with scale: oversized planters and larger pumpkins make an entry look intentional.
• Work in odd numbers and vary heights: tall cornstalks or grasses behind, pumpkins and gourds in front.
• Choose a palette: classic orange, soft white and sage, or deep burgundy and gold.
• Layer texture with hay, cornstalks, mums and ornamental grasses.
• Add a warm light source like lanterns for evenings.
• Refresh mid-season: mums and produce wear down, especially in rain.
